About Merrily

MerrilyPorchI spend way too much time chasing.  Sometimes the chasing is good. Sometimes the chasing feels more like running the opposite direction.  And sometimes it’s really more like limping.

I tend to run through the valleys.  I’ve tripped so many times that the running seems slow.  I’m trying to get back into chasing.  And chasing the things that don’t knock me down.  Like, chasing after the things God has called me to.

I’m 53.  I feel like I have a long way to go before I grow up.

I only gave birth once in my life, but have raise (still raising) 4.5.  Some people take in stray dogs.  I take in kids.  And old people.  My elderly parents are about to move in with me.

I raised two beautiful step-sons who have turned into fabulous daddys and husbands.  My only pregnancy produced a beautiful daughter who’s married and living in California.   When I married my current husband, I asked for a baby.  He said “what about a grandbaby?”  I said “ok.”  We adopted Maddie when she was 3 months old.  She is now 11 years old.  Her little brother and his daddy lived with us for the last couple of years, only to move out a couple of months ago.    Garrison is 4 years old now and still calls me Mommy.  Although he lives with the other grandma now, I still get to see him frequently.    I have two wonderful step-sons that came along with my new (11 years in) marriage.

Yes, I’m in the “new” marriage already for 11 years.  It still feels new.  That is a good thing.

I’m trying to break out of the “jack of all trades, a master of none” mold.  I’ve always wanted to write, thus the blog.  My day job…well I’m a Mortgage Loan Officer.  It is a good fit…
